Agricultural Adaptation Council's Request for Proposals - CanAdvance Growing Capacity Initiative (GCI)
As a catalyst for adaptation, advancement and innovation within the agriculture and agri-food community, the Agricultural Adaptation Council (AAC) has notionally allocated $4 million to the CanAdvance Growing Capacity Initiative (GCI). These funds are administered through Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada’s (AAFC) Advancing Canadian Agriculture and Agri-Food (ACAAF) Program. The AAC has issued this Request for Proposals (RFP) to solicit project proposals for funding consideration under the GCI Program. RBC After-School Grants Program calls for grant applications
Deadline to apply is April 28, 2008

The RBC After-School Grants Program announced its call for grant applications for the 2008-2009 school year. In its 10th year, RBC is offering up to $2.5 million in grants, $900,000 of which is set aside to fund as many as 23 first-time grant recipients. Donner Canadian Foundation Awards
The Donner Awards program encourages the spirit of initiative and independence, and represents an important step forward in the development of an objective, quantifiable system for measuring non-profit performance.
Besides the William H. Donner Award for Excellence in the Delivery of Social Services and Peter F. Drucker Award for Non-Profit Management, nine awards, valued at $5,000 each, are presented in the areas of alternative education, counseling services, crisis intervention, prevention and treatment of substance abuse, provision of basic necessities, services for children, for people with disabilities, for seniors and traditional education.
All applicants who complete the 2008 application online by the final deadline of Thursday, May 15, 2008 will be eligible for $1,000 cash draw.

Ontario Senior Achievement Award
The Ontario Senior Achievement Award honours those who have made outstanding contributions to their communities after turning 65.
Achievements in many fields would qualify, for example: arts/literature; community service/voluntarism; education; environment/science; fitness/recreation/sport; humanitarian activities; keeping history alive. Recipients can be nominated by individuals or organizations and they are chosen by a selection committee. The deadline for nominations is June 15, 2008. The Lincoln M. Alexander Award
Since 1993, The Lincoln M. Alexander Award has recognized young people who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in eliminating racial discrimination in Ontario. Each year, three young people, between the ages of 16 and 25, receive an award of $5,000 each and a framed scroll. Community organizations or agencies working in the field of race relations can submit nominations. Recipients are chosen by a selection committee. The deadline for nominations is May 31, 2008. 2008 Violence Prevention Grants available from the Canadian Women’s Foundation
The 2008 violence prevention grant application process is now open.
You may apply for a grant to:
1) prevent violence against women through work involving girls or teens, or
2) help women and children rebuild their lives after experiencing violence.

Rural Matters! Forging Healthy Canadian Communities, a national symposium, to be held in the Summer of 2008 in Edmonton, Alberta - registration now open

Develop key messages and set priorities for strengthening the economic, governance, infrastructure and environmental foundations of rural communities.
