Community of Advisors
Our Learning Centre is guided by a Community of Advisors.
Our Community of Advisors is a team of volunteers who are leaders in their field. They provide mentoring and learning opportunities for our Rural Development Officer Interns; helping them to develop a career in the nonprofit and voluntary sectors within rural communities with a specialty in rural fund development.
Our Community of Advisors will provide expertise on a wide range of topics which includes:
- fund development and the various fund development techniques
- communications
- career development
- software learning
- finance & law
- volunteer management
- strategic planning
- organizational management, leadership and change management
all in the context of working in and with rural communities.

The Community of Advisors is a unique opportunity to connect with rural organizations. If you believe in building the capacity of organizations at the grassroots level and have a desire to help rural organizations respond to the needs of their communities then our Community of Advisors may be an opportunity for you to explore. Here is a brief list of opportunities you can participate in as a Community Advisor
- Post an article on their topic of expertise to our Resource Learning Centre
- Host a 1.5 hour web seminar using WebEx E-Learning software
- Facilitate the Question & Answer Forum for a period of three to four weeks
- Respond to requests for advice by email or phone
- Lead SWAT support to selected organizations for short term projects in their area of expertise and participate in SWAT in other projects of interest
- An opportunity to facilitate a learning session at our annual spring conference
- Participate in any activities of the Rural Philanthropy Resource Centre and the Foundation for Rural Living
- Your profile and contact information will be featured and indexed on our site
